CogniStreamer® Innovation Portal addresses a very common problem that typically arises when a huge amount of unstructured ideas is injected into a stage gate funnel. The scarcity of review resources, the sequential nature of the assessment process and the high uncertainty in determining the success probability causes a bottleneck at the first stage gate, which in turn threatens to stall the complete innovation process. CogniStreamer tackles this problem by tapping into the collective intelligence of the innovation network using the unique Thistle Tube® collaborative filtering technology.

Active members within the Innovation Portal organize and validate ideas from other members. The output of this peer-review process is combined with other collective intelligence data (e.g. page views, ratings, flagging, tagging ...) into a collaborative filtering algorithm that produces an automated qualitative ranking of the idea portfolio. This ranked portfolio is then forwarded to the next innovation stage (NPD) where an innovation council looks at the top ranked ideas to decide which ideas are pushed further into the R&D process.
